Gatsby Chapter Three

Describe Gatsby's party in 3-5 sentences.

Your Definition: 
Activity: Analyze the diction in this sentence from chapter three in reference to Gatsby:
"He smiled understandingly- much more than understandingly.  It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life"(48).

Watch chapter two of the film measure.
Write down a couple of similarities and differences.

Rotate around the room commenting on each of the quotes.
Analyze the diction of the quotes, and consider what they demonstrate about the people.
We will go over the comments together.

3.  TPEQEA

Reflect on the quotes from the chalk talk.
Then write a TPEQEA paragraph on the prompt below: 

Analyze how Fitzgerald characterizes the people who attend Gatsby's party.
Why does he portray them this way?

Watch the third chapter of Gatsby.
